The Berry Collage EagleCam has been catching glimpses of the eagles rebuilding the nest and mating. Eggs are expected at the end of Dec or the begining of Jan. The cameras have been improved, a 2nd nest (with sound) cam has been added, and the approach cam has been upgraded

The female eagle has started to stay in the nest.

Thanks for this. I enjoy these live cams. Over the years I've watched a different eagle pair raise 2 young and a black bear hibernate with cubs until she left the den in the spring.

You are welcome, Coolkat. If the bear web cam is still around, could you post the link to it? Two years ago a cat got up the tree and spent some time eyeing the nest. The egg had hatched and the mother eagle was in the nest at the time. The cat made it move on the baby eagle and the mother eagle made it move on the cat. The battle did not last long. The eagles dined on cat for a few days.

The eagles dined on cat for a few days. Wow.. was this a domestic cat? Here is where I watched the bear with her cubs a couple of years ago. www.bear.org/website/When I watched it, there as a bear named Lily who had two cubs. The story doesn't end well so I'll stop now but it was fascinating at the time.

Yes, it was some 'house' cat. It was surprising how close the nest the eagles let the cat come. I made a joke, and called it delivery.
And thanks for the link.

This morning both eagles were in the nest. The pair was adding in more pine needles and placing some new sticks. I was amused with the placement of one stick. One eagle would place the stick in one spot; the other eagle moved the stick elsewhere. They went round and round with the stick placement will one of the eagles finally tossed the stick over the side. Reminded me of moving furniture for the wife.

Looking at the nest this morning, I was a bit marveled at how high the nest has been built up this year. Last year she hatched 2 eggs, I wonder if she will be going for 3 this year?

My friends and I have been watching these wonderful eagles and reporting back and forth about the "goings on". There has been a vulture robbing the nest of the food they've brought back and a squirrel at night that stole feathers from the nest.

Coolkat, is there a particular time the vulture shows up?

All I can tell you is that it was probably shortly before 1:15 pm EST on the 18th and again shortly before 4pm.

That's going to be some fight when the eagles catch the vulture in the nest. Even though one may be in the nest the other parent has been close by. Last year we determined that the female has a rougher beak then the male.

I was wondering if that would happen today. I was watching them go crazy on re-arranging the nest. This is neat news. Now the waiting begins.
