After the first of the year... maybe something Martin Luther Weekend, or later around spring break time

You make me wonder how many I've done. Probably not as many; though I racked up a lot of overnighters in my Seattle days I don't get to backpack more than 2-4 times a year now. Hey, when you start nailing down dates and places, I might see if I'm free. If it's the right time, I could bring my baby boy

Congrats, tarol! I have no idea how many trips I've done. A lot! I've been a backpacker for 42 years....

Congratulations Tarol. And you are obviously doing a fine job bringing your growing son into the natural world. I like that you are one of the few backpackers that have recorded online trip reports with images for most of those trips. As one gets older, the trip images one has taken are the real gold for bringing back memories that would otherwise have been lost forever. Although those on this board are aware of her website trip pages, she has also constructed considerable pages on the summitpost dot org climbers board. For example the Death Valley NP and Carizzo Plain NM pages.
Just looking at my own trip report list, my 75th backpacking trip was on Memorial Day in 1989 down below Tuolumne Meadows along the river. If this El Nino winter plays out as forecast, am expecting our deserts will start to bloom by mid February and if so am likely to take off on long road trips and expect you and other SoCal members will also be out and about.

Thanks, Dave. I do miss the old boards when things like a trip report garnered some comments! I do spend some time on them telling the story and editing photos. I find that if I don't do it soon after the trip I start forgetting little details, so my goal is within one week to write something up.
Can't wait for spring! It should be a good one. It already seems like our winters of past are back, with a storm off the Pacific every week.

Congrats. I can't say I've bothered to count my trips over the years. Something more than ten, less than a thousand I'd say. As for what you should do, my vote goes for whatever you'd have planned if it happened to be your 76th trip instead.

Does that mean Tarol and son become 76er's in the land of the Lakers or will they play 76 Trombones to celebrate?

I think I lost count after three trips.
Congrats on hitting a backpacking milestone.

Thanks - my son is up to his 5th trip now - he turns 4 in February Keeping count is not something that I planned on, but it's easy if you've written trip reports for every one. As for photos, there are two trips I did where I left my camera at home, sort of an experiment to see if I enjoyed the trip more. Turns out no, I didn't, and wish I had photos.

75 is pretty amazing, Tarol. I am really amazed, however, by your ability to hike and carry your little guy. That is a feat worth bragging about! He is adorable, BTW -- very cool that you are sharing these experiences with him. I'll be hiking/backpacking with my grown-up "kids" next week -- looking forward to spending some time outdoors with them!
