Well, I hear it's Kings Canyon NP 75th birthday. Coincidence??? One ought to be poetic about their trips afield if they can at all help it. Cheers! -GJ

Love to, Kings Canyon was the site of my first ranger job, but most of the park is under snow and still under closure due to the Rough Fire :(
I'm thinking something desert or coastal after the first of the year

Pt. Reyes has been on my list, if I remember at least one of the camps would be doable with the kiddo I think either Coast Camp or Sky Camp would be. Each is IIRC under 2 miles each way. Coast may be easier, because it's pretty flat; Sky Camp is shorter, but steep to get there.

75 trips for a young guy like that is awesome. My son didn't do an overnight hike till he was 6, and I don't think he has hit 75 yet, at 19 years old.
Me, probably I have hit 275 after 48 years of hiking. I used to keep track of the peaks I had climbed, and at about 200 peaks I quit keeping track. Some were multiple peaks on one trip, like 17 peaks on the JMT, and a bunch on the Ptarmigan Traverse.
