hello friends, I need your help! I am conducting a research about backpacking for my dissertation and my main focus is to see what backpackers want and if what the current industry has to offer fulfills those needs. the questioner should take about 3 minutes to fill. your honest answering would be highly appreciated. please do not answer if you don't feel like writing a few words. thank you! goo.gl/forms/4WDporbYWGnAZARB2

Hi.
Just to let you know, the kind of backpacking this board represents is Wilderness Travel involving back country hikes carrying supplies in a backpack and is in no way connected with the "European" style of international backpacking which includes staying at hostels. Good luck with your research.

hello,
i'm not interested in one type of backpacker, i want to know what backpackers want from their point of view. i'm not the kind of backpacker that stays in hostels, i'm referring to the backpacker that carries everything in a backpack and sleeps in a tent. thank you!

Okay.
I glanced at the survey and saw the reference to the AHA and backpacking through Sweden. The verbiage, to me, indicated the world traveler type of backpacker. The board gets a lot of requests for surveys and offers of information from that type of backpacking.
My mistake if that was not your intent. I'll gladly fill out the survey.

Also, I was not able to click on any of the fields that listed in the multiple choice questions. It seems they are protected.
ETA: The form does not seem to be interactive, for me. Maybe it's my settings. I'll check.
ETA2: I changed my pop up, active X and tracking settings and still couldn't interact with the survey page. Perhaps someone else here can.

yes, i do see the backpacker as a traveler and not a tourist, but a backpacker, to me, is a person that visits a pace anywhere with his/her backpack and is not damaging to the culture. my research focuses of Sweden but it is addressed to all backpackers. here's the link again maybe it works: goo.gl/forms/iF2jPbTJCMQ4D9Ao2thank you for your feedback, you are really nice

here's the link again maybe it works: I still can't click on any of the choices. There is a green vertical bar that blocks part of the square clickable field. Also, when trying to type in some answers to the questions all I could do was type over the "Your Answer" and could not start typing after it. Perhaps it's my computer. Have you tried logging out of the survey form provider website and see if you can interact with it? Once again, good luck.

So, it's probably some settings on my side. I see that it's a Google Docs form. Maybe that is a reason.
You're welcome.

I took the survey, but it was so intent on Sweden that it did not apply to my recreational style.[ You state that you are interested in all backpackers, but the questions are solely International backpacking, particularly in Sweden. I don't spend 100 Euros when backpacking, but I do spend US $. I never look at Sweden opportunities, on the internet or elsewhere, since I only bp in the US.
Since 90% of our posters here are in the US, and few of them travel to Sweden, I don't think we are the correct audience for your survey.

I have considered Sweden as the perfect terrain for late winter early spring ski touring on Nordic skis. Good luck on your dissertation.

hello, Zeke, yes i'm focusing on Sweden but it is from a backpacker's point of view, it is a gorgeous country who is not as visited, even though they have the infrastructure and scenery and challenges. So you are saying that in the US you have all your backpacker needs fulfilled? I Remember quite vividly my cross country last year in the US and how hard it was to find a camping grown that was not fully booked weeks in advance, compare to hotels where you can just show up and you'll find a room even in New Orleans for Mardi Gras if you have like 500$ to spend. most questions look at the fact that the backpacker's needs are not considered as important as a regular tourist, even though the backpacker industry is worth, on average, about 40 billion $. as for the dollar versus euro, I apologize.

hello Westy,i do too, i'm heading there this summer for some trails up in Abisko national park. from my point of view Sweden is great any time, since i love winter and winter sports. when i did some world-wide research i found out that in Europe, Sweden is not doing so great in regards to tourism, even though there, by law, you can set up camp anywhere in the wilderness, and i was comparing it with USA where you have so many rules for that. Thank you so much!

Don't stay in camping grounds, but in Wilderness areas, or National Forests where there is dispersed camping. In National Parks, it is true that the permits sometimes fill up months in advance, requiring some planning.

Once again I think you are not clear about the backpacking this group focuses on. Reserved camp sites are typically only used when car camping. This group may me many miles from anything that resembles a structured camping facility, before pitching a tent.
