We're having a few days of near-record temps in the Midatlantic. I saw two snakes today, which is very unusual for this time of year. Certainly warm for late October. With the short days this time of year, I was doing some dusk/night gardening yesterday... and getting attacked by mosquitoes!

It was summer in Denver/metro through middle of October. Supposed to snow this weekend.

One of the best Weather Service pages I've found for mapping of developing winter storms is digital.weather.gov/It shows the expected snow depth up to Sunday morning.

What seems to be a new trend over the past decade... Christmastime flooding in Upstate NY.

Cold weather coming here. Low tonight of -26°F with a high tomorrow of -13°F mixed at times with 20 to 30 mph winds. We are expecting a wind chill of around -55°F early tomorrow morning. The half-foot of snow that fell yesterday will be blowing around from one place to another. What fun!

It is supposed to be a rare below 0 here in far eastern Oklahoma. Our water comes from a spring where a submersible pump takes care of business. I took a couple of hours yesterday insulating pipes where they come out of the spring and unavoidably are exposed to the air coming into the overflow. I also blocked that airway and reinforced the insulation around the door of the springhouse. Crossing our fingers that the pipes don't freeze over there like they did a few winters ago and shattered. Snow? Not expecting much. We'll see about that.

It’s so cold here that I saw a Canadian wearing a sweater.

Seattle was 14 degrees this morning. Balmy, compared to you other folks, but unusual here. Yesterday it never got over 20 at my house. Crossing my fingers it doesn't suddenly warm up enough to rain, since last year that nonsense gave us a paralyzing ice sheet.
I'm not good at these temps--I struggle to keep my chin and nose warm without getting the covering sopping wet from my breath.
