Tried sporks, including a titanium one. Now I just use an old long handled lexan spoon and a separate fork if I feel I will need a fork. Sadly, they have taken lexan off the list of appropriate material for utensils. Look for bamboo ones now. 5 spoons, $10 + shipping. You might find them locally.

I have a passionate hatred for sporks. I have been using a bamboo spoon and love it.

Says it weights about 16 grams or 0.6 ounces. If that is correct, it might be worth getting. The thing is how tough it is. I have seen several of the plastic Light My Fire sporks break with seemingly normal use, so I have my doubts about it.
Right now I have absolutely no fear my long handle Ti spoon will ever fail.

My problem with utensils like that is how awkward they are to hold and use. My basic lexan spoon has served me well, though a slightly longer handle would be nice. Maybe I'll look at those bamboo ones Zeke linked to.

Maybe I'll look at those bamboo ones Zeke linked to. The great thing about the bamboo spoons is that they have a much more ecologically favorable impact than just about anything else. Unlike a wooden spoon, bamboo is just waaaaaaaay better. Rumi

What's wrong with lexan now? At a guess, I'd say BPA. I don't know if that's in there, but since it's a hard plastic, there's a chance. Around our house what's wrong with the lexan spoons is that some have gone missing.

Call me picky but I don't like sporks and, maybe even more so, I don't like dual-ended utensils. I take a spoon and a fork. Sea to Summit UL aluminum, 0.6 oz for the pair. If I'm going to "cook" or taking Asian noodle-soups, I also take a pair of "disposable" chopsticks.

So maybe a strange question, but can you taste the bamboo?

can you taste the bamboo? I don't. I've had the same set for about 5 years now.
