Sometimes winter doesn't want to give way to spring. This (iPhone) photo was taken yesterday, around an elevation of 3000ft. I faced bands of rain, freezing rain, hail and snowstorms amidst fleeting sunshine. The Laurel Highlands Trail after a freak snowstorm (Pennsylvania, April/9/2022)

In the redwood area, trillium are a sure sign of spring. Rhododendron and Tiger Lily too, but I didn’t see those today.

It must be springtime in Napa. The hot air balloons are blooming over my house.

I only saw this lone Lady's Slipper on my hike the day before yesterday, but what a beauty!

Not in the wild, but tulips are a sure sign of spring.

Not in the wild, but tulips are a sure sign of spring. I'm not getting any time in the wild just now, so I am appreciating that my neighborhood is loaded with things in bloom.

What's it like up there now? The Yosemite snow rangers have posted another report from Tuolumne Meadows. Snow conditions continue to evolve, and another storm this weekend could have an impact, but there is no question that spring is coming: www.nps.gov/yose/blogs/update-for-april-10-2024.htmThe snow level at the top of Snow Creek above Yosemite Valley is now at 7,000 feet.
