Those are pretty! Most of our backyard birds are pretty drab. But I do get some nice hummingbirds, which I love.

We have a great bird yard—on a lake and surrounded by woods: both pretty rare things in Kansas. The Buntings have been the showiest we’ve seen so far. Here’s the Indigo Bunting:

I have never seen a painted bunting, but I hope to one day. When we lived in Arkansas, we'd get indigo buntings at our feeder. Nice pictures!

Last week or so a flock of yellow headed blackbirds moved in. They are aggressive and chase all the other birds away from my feeders.

This red-bellied woodpecker is a daily winter visitor to our yard, but I never got a decent photo until today. (They're pretty flitty--even if you get the camera out in time while it's on the feeder, it rarely stops moving.)
