Does anyone know if the Fire Tower atop Belvidere Mountain on the Long Trail is open? If you can't get into the lookout, can you at least climb the stairs?

It was open this summer when I hiked past it and I've never heard of it closing. If you have any doubts you should call the Green Mountain Club. They will be able to give you the correct answer. www.greenmountainclub.org. |

Reprise: It's open and awesome! There are so few views along the Long Trail that fire tower is really amazing.

If you like fire towers in the northeast, check out the newly rehabilitated fire tower on top of Hurricane Mountain in NY. I believe it reopened on October 1, 2015 and as of August 2016 there are still some of the repair materials stashed away on the summit. That view of the ADK is something else! |
