Two years ago we had 3 to 6 feet of snow in the first week of October But didn't that kill a bunch of cattle and whatnot? Yeah, estimates at the time were up to 100,000 cattle killed in Wyoming and South Dakota. There were also a lot of trees downed and rural electric customers without power for a week or more. Some people claimed that the Weather Service had not warned them, but it had, and they didn't take the warning seriously. The storm was predicted three days in advance with a blizzard warning issued at least 24 hours before it even started snowing. But temperatures were in the 70°F range up until the storm hit. It can snow just about any month of the year in Wyoming, but that size of storm is unusual in early October. But here we are mid-October now. So I would not be surprised to see a snowstorm before long. But then, I was one of the few people around here who were paying attention to the weather forecast two years ago.

Snow in this weekend's forecast!!! Syracuse is out for revenge this year after Lowell, MA doctored their numbers to win last season's Golden Snow Globe award. ;-| That said, I need to find ways to protect my plants since I'm still harvesting tomatoes and peppers! (about 4-6 weeks after normal die-off)
