Looking on the bright side, the heavy clouds prevented the apocalypse from being triggered. I still don't understand how the westerners survived it. They may all be zombies now.

I still don't understand how the westerners survived it. They may all be zombies now. Fortunately, the weather only allowed me one clear view of the total eclipse. The clouds then quickly protected me from doomsday. That's not to say that I'm feeling quite right this morning. I keep wiping these patches of dead skin off my face.

I sat outside, lit a fire in our chimera, and watched for about 2 hours in my lawn chair. Carol spent about half an hour with me as it was cool and for once it wasn't in the middle of the night. It was one of the best lunar eclipses I've ever seen.
There is a total solar eclipse coming in July 2017 which should be easily accessible to most of us as it's path goes from the NW through KC and St. Louis and on further into the SE states.

Planned driving up from where I live at sea level about the SF Bay Area to the east of Mt Hamilton at 4.2k feet and outside our night light pollution. But by late afternoon was apparent a dense band of high cirrus over our area would be a couple hours too late in clearing the area.
