When I joined the original forums in 2001 my then only child was nearing 4. He grew up around a lot of hikers, going on 1000's of miles of trails with you all. In case you want to feel really old...he turned 18 today. Hehehe I'm not gonna go sit in the corner and cry.

Ah yes. Our two girls both graduated from law school this year.
The good news? Empty nesting is way better than we expected!

With a 3 and 5 year old it'll be a few years for that here ;-)

I'm going to my Grandson's, Cross Country race tomorrow morning, and then going to see the newest Grand-daughter on Sunday. I hope that makes you feel younger.

We're all getting older. When we moved here, our neighbors were newlyweds with no kids. Next month, their younger daughter is getting married. She finished college a couple years ago. Their older daughter finished college about five years ago.

I hear ya, Sarbar! I joined in 2004, when our boys were 5 & 6, and ready for their first multi-day packtrip without horse support (actually, it was the 2nd. We'd done a 3-day 8-miler the summer before). I came looking for help finding an appropriate route in the Sangre de Cristo mountains. I found it, and a great community. I've never left.

2004: Snacking by the side of the trail. Approaching the Phantom Terrace That was also the year I got my Osprey Ariel 60, a real wonder at maybe 3.5 lbs. Oh, yeah, and those boys are 16 and nearly 18, with the elder away at college. I do cry, sometimes Snivel a bit, anyway.

My oldest daughter is finishing her PhD. My grandson is 2 years old. I'll be certifiably old when he graduates from high school.
As for arthritis, I've got it in both knees. You can imagine how excited I am about that.

Lol...well I at least have the 2 youngest to keep me "young" (although that old bat at Costco calling me Grandma didn't go over well......) Ford at 18 has a 34" inseam so usually when hiking with him...all I see is his backside, far, far ahead of me!
