So how established is Dengue in the FL mosquito population ? I knew it made the move to the US, but haven't heard of any outbreaks. But Malaria, has it made it's way that far north ? So how established is Dengue in the FL mosquito population ? I knew it made the move to the US, but haven't heard of any outbreaks. But Malaria, has it made it's way that far north ? We did have an outbreak of Dengue in Key West that lasted a couple of years. Control efforts finally paid off and no more Dengue until the next introduction. We had a couple of small outbreaks of malaria over the years but they were relatively easy to eliminate. Since Dengue and Malaria depend on people to keep the virus going being in the everglades is relatively safe from those two diseases due to the lack of people.
