I missed out on telling Jim Fuller the parts of my Citadel trip that didn't get into the report.

We had a good group, though it was one of the smaller years in terms of numbers of people.
Some years three of four hikes of various levels/lengths happened on Saturday. This year many were only there for the day, so stayed in camp to visit with others as they came and went.
Three of the guys hiked to Crater Lake which is off a trailhead that's only about 10 miles away.
We did not have a 14er crew - maybe next year.
As mentioned before it was a bit somber at times, but over all I think everyone had a good time.
MsDoolittle, OlZeke and lostone did a wonderful job of feeding the crew. The portable carport made a fabulous kitchen shelter!
We signed cards for Chuck's wife. I will get those in the mail to her later this week.
Sites have been reserved for next year. Sept 15-18. Yes, I made sure that site 5 is available Thursday night. Then 4 and 5 will be available on Fri and Sat nights. (by the way the sites had gone up since the last time I booked so my estimate was low. We can take care of that next year.)
More on the 10th Anniversary year later.

M and I had a good time, but the colder weather took it's toll on her by making her symptoms worse. She spent more time napping than she would have liked. She greatly enjoyed meeting those new friends, and reacquainting with some she had already met..
I brought a lot of gear this time, mostly kitchen stuff. Managed to get into and out of camp with the car without getting caught by the host. What a guy he turned out to be. He managed to insult each and every one of us within 15 minutes of arriving in our camp, supposedly to check our reservations and tell us a few regulations. He was the low light of Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon, we went for a drive up to the Alpine VC so M could get some sort of feel for the park. This was her first trip there in 45 yrs.
I cooked one dish, and was prepared to do more, but the others had it well covered. I enjoyed their food, and not needing to be a cook. I did manage to help a bit with the clean up and dish washing.
We got to Nashville Monday evening, only to get a call that is detouring us to Chicago. M has lost a dear friend who was like her second mother, so we will be Saturday or Sunday returning to Florida. Just 7 hours from here, so not a long day today.

It was really nice seeing everyone again. Didn't realize though seeing some peeps it had been many years.
The cg host gave mr foggy the shake down too, and he's not too familiar with people on the forums, so he rambled on until the host figured out he was with the p g group. :-D too funny.
Good times.

what was the deal with the campground host? I've never even heard you all mention a host before.

Sounds like y'all had a good time. The pictures are evidence of that. Hopefully I can make my way over next year for the big anniversary.

This was the first time for the fool. In previous years they stocked the restrooms with TP said a friendly "Hi" and left us alone.

One of his attempts at humor - "I'm sorry about your friend [Chuck], but if he's not here you'll have to leave." - failed in a particularly spectacular fashion with his audience.

Wow! That could have earned him a free wheelbarrow ride down to Central City.

Wow! That could have earned him a free wheelbarrow ride down to Central City. I think it was that one that made Roger wish he was "carrying". Which was another of his questions I heard about. The fool was lucky I was not in camp at the tine.
