A friend of mine rescues snakes from urban areas and releases them in the wild. This female gave me a spectacular view of her spectacles, pun intended. I was lying, very very still, on the ground about four feet away. Have a look here: spectacled cobra

I won't deny that in a purely visionary way she is a magnificent creature, with a stunning hood and design on the back. But I don't think I could ever view a cobra in person and have that same observation. It would be more one of terror.
You raise some interesting questions on the beauty of wild animals and/or reptiles. I've always thought that lions and cheetahs in attack mode are stunning examples of coordination and speed, but I wouldn't want to be in their sights.
Thanks for sharing, and raising an interesting issue.

A friend of mine rescues snakes from urban areas and releases them in the wild. In someplace they are native too? Invasive species is a thing.

Zeke and I have a brother-in-law who is a herpetologist and once, after pitting in a radio tracker and then having her fail to wake up, and then giving mouth to mouth to a fifteen foot cobra he shared the link to the video. Perhaps zeke still knows what it is.

I was lying, very very still, on the ground about four feet away. You know they make telephoto lenses, right? LOL!

then giving mouth to mouth to a fifteen foot cobra echo , PLEASE tell me you're joking? Mouth to mouth to a cobra? Wasn't he concerned it would attack him if he resuscitated it? Yikes. I'm getting chills down my spine just thinking about that! BTW, I didn't know you and Zeke were related.

autumnmist my husband's oldest sister was Zeke's wife April, she died on a hike in the Grand Canyon and he is remarried, so technically I suppose we are no longer legally family, but still family. And no not kidding, I found a description of the video but not the snippet I used to show people, ficcontentsales.com/programmes/main.aspx?id=1051 my husband's brother is Dr. Matt Goode
