While not jealous at all, I spent my Saturday playing with a toddler who can walk the beach fairly well now. It is wonderful here this weekend and while company would add to the fun, we were happy anyway.

I ended up hiking 10 miles along the AT. I saw one rattlesnake, but the highlight was watching a bald eagle fish in lily-covered pond from the edge of a beaver lodge.

I was suppose to be at the Pickin' in the Pines Bluegrass festival this weekend up in Flagstaff. But I had to cancel because of work. It's unusual that I can't take my long declared vacation time. Sometimes things have to get done. I was a little bitter, I guess.
Instead of doing something that cost me money, I ended up doing something that made me money, overtime money. So, it worked out.

Tarol, no need to be a drinker to enjoy PG! Yes, a fair bit of drinking goes on (and even more is talked about), but when I went, I had a great time, and I think I had a couple of glasses of wine the whole weekend. No one gave me any abuse for trying to minimize the effects of altitude

Good one Rebecca! I mean who needs Pickle Gulch when we can have fun with vocabulary! Exactly. Though I've been told I can't do the ribald part, because this is a family site. I spent yesterday biking. Pretty much the whole day. Today I'm puttering very slowly at household chores.

What really happens at Pickle Gulch anyhow, half naked, middle aged, people passed out, face down in the dirt? I don't want to see those pictures. Hey! I resemble that remark!

Actually, it was a rather small, reasonably sober, and somewhat somber affair this year. I hadn't made it in a couple of years, but had to make it this year in honor of Chuck. Much of the campfire talk was reminiscing about him, and more than a few toasts were made in his honor, and there were tears.
Sorry to burst the bubble about the nude oil wrestling.
