Can anyone tell me if there have been any problems with vehicles being broken into or vandalism occuring at the tunnel parking area? Is it safe to park there for 4 days or should I find a shuttle to drop us off? If so, can anyone reccomend a shuttle? Thanks

Can't speak to the parking lot immediately by the tunnel. We parked at the nearby Noland Creek trailhead for two nights last November with no problems.

I have a house on Deep Creek in Bryson. I think I would use a shuttle to be safe. Especially if you have FL plates! Just my 2 cents worth.

there is vandalism to the tunnel by way of spray painting it...............the did arrest two guys for a tag earlier this summer.......
as for parking.....
i've parked both at the tunnel and the parking lot for noland creek trail (about a mile from tunnel)...........
and ive had no problems whatsoever...........ive parked both my beater car and my semi decent car and havent had any damage.......in fact, every place, not only in the park but surrounding national forest areas, i have no problems in the 15 years ive been exploring these parts..........
not saying it cant happen though.............
i guess i just have gotten lucky.....
there was this one time though, a few years ago, that when i started out on a trip parking at the tunnel----the guy parked next to me was coming back and his window was smashed..........not sure what they took as i didnt ask.....
as for shuttles---i havent looked at that list but ive used the hike inn that's down near fontana and they are really good............by their name, their cater to hikers........
