Last month I hiked to Kettle Creek Gorge and Angel Falls in the Loyalsock State Forest. Angel Falls is about 70 feet tall, and has two or three more falls below it. Towering tulip poplar trees rose through the forest. I then hiked the Loyalsock Trail into Kettle Creek Gorge with its rugged isolation, vista, pools, creekside hiking, and great campsites. I heard a rattlesnake at the vista, and later, saw a hummingbird as shadows filled the gorge. There is another falls further upstream on Kettle Creek that I've never seen, and didn't see on this trip, but it gives me a reason to go back.
