Would you like to help build trail on the North County Trail in Wisconsin.? We have a work weekend on : Saturday, July 18, 2015 8:00 AM to Sunday, July 19, 2015, 2:00 PM Copper Falls State Park 36764 Copper Falls Road, Mellen, WI (map) July Event Focus: This Event will focus on two main areas: 1) Mowing, lopping, blazing and trail maintenance throughout the Heritage Chapter and 2) trail building within Copper Falls State Park. Where To Stay: We have free camping available for Friday and Saturday nights at overflow site #2 in Copper Falls State Park (Hwy 169, just north of Mellen). Remember you will need a sticker pass on your vehicle if camping with us overnight. Some volunteers also like to stay at the Indianhead Motel in Ironwood indianheadmotel.com/rooms.html ( Morgan & Linda are NCTA members). Where And When To Meet: Arrive at Copper Falls State Park entrance (off Hwy 169) before 8am (say 7:15 or 7:30am for breakfast). Look for the yellow North Country Trail signs beginning at the entrance and follow them to the breakfast meeting spot. What To Bring: Please be sure to bring your own water and bug repellent. Chef Paulson provides a bag lunch for the field. Chapter Sponsored Meals: Chef Margaret Paulson will be cooking for the crew at this event. So arrive early on Saturday for breakfast (between 7:15 and 8am), then pick up a bag lunch before you head out to the field. After work she will have dinner ready (around 5:30pm). Is this a re route? I could have sworn I've backpacked up in that section. That near prosecutor?

This is not part of the reroute. It is continuing the trail trough Copper Falls State Park. The trail through the park was never completed due to to previous land owner issues. Most of the section from Copper Falls to Hurley is yet to be determined but we have a number of sections completed.

One of these days I'm going to make it back up there and hike that area again. Thanks for the hard work of trail building. I do trail work with the local mountain bike group where I live and it is honest to goodness hard labor putting in new trail.
