I was a North American T-6 Texan pilot when I was 9 years old. The small, local airport nearby had a plane graveyard. Best playground and "let's pretend" activity I ever had.

Best playground and "let's pretend" activity I ever had. I can only imagine. I think I could enjoy that still!

daveb , I'm sorry to learn of your father's injuries. I think those gunners were literally really in the hot spots - the turrets were pretty obvious targets. Love the photos, and thanks for thinking of us warbird lovers. I've never seen a photo like your angle of the nose guns - that's awesome! I like the "take-off line-up shot and the 8 plane aerial formation. There's such beauty in symmetry, as well as in the configuration and the planes themselves. But those old bombers are beautifies in their own rights. I've admired these half a dozen times before I logged in to post, and bookmarked the plane photo URLs to come back to visit when I need a mental boost!
