Completed a thru-hike of the CT on July 30th. We were early season, so fewer hikers including Todd and Amanda from Indianapolis, IN. Todd had carefully planned this to be the high point of their hike. She said yes! Well done Todd!

Aw, Westy, that's sweet! Though it always amazes me to see those CO high points, which look like great flat things with grass. By contrast, this was the high point of our recent trip into the Sierra: It was at the top of this slope: Mind, I'm not running down the CO mountains. I like them. I was just struck by the contrast!

^ I don't think you need any more batting practice. That's an extraordinary shot.

One more from Ithaca, NY (the rest in a trip report)... Taughannock FallsIs Ithaca along the Niagara Escarpment? Doesn't look too unlike my local cliffs/falls/crevices. Devil's Punchbowl, Hamilton, Ontario
What I was doin' there that day (sorry for bad quality, cold hands + need for speed + cell phone):
Partway up Devil's Punchbowl Major Falls, Hamilton, Ontario

Ithaca should be around a couple of hours east of Niagara. It's somewhat similar to the Niagara waterfalls, but the gorges felt a bit more hemmed in. By the way, your shot of Devil's Punchbowl reminds me of my single foray to explore some of the waterfalls near Niagara Falls not named Niagara Falls... Lower Balls Falls

Lower Balls FallsAfter looking through your TR, I read into it. The Niagara Escarpment formation doesn't quite reach the Finger lakes, so it isn't the same geology. Looks very similar though, regardless. If you travel about an hour west of Niagara Falls you'll get to Hamilton, Ontario. The city is purported to have the most water falls within its limits of any other city in the world. Some good ones off the top of my head include: Webster's, Felker's, Buttermilk, Albion, Devil's Punch Bowl, Tew's, and Tiffany. I've heard of Balls Falls, have never been out to it though. I can the Queenston shale shining through in that picture though. Random photo of my adventure buddy by the fire, taken while backpacking this spring: Ganaraska Trail, Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands, Ontario

Locals call this place "Devil's Bath," perhaps because pioneers had a habit of naming any unusual natural feature after the devil. Or perhaps because the unmapped route to the place is thickly lined with poison ivy. Imagine being a neophyte in the woods who discovers a beautiful hidden spot up a canyon in the forest and then returns home with a humongous outbreak of poison ivy blisters. "Must have been the devil's work."

The devil must like water features. We have a Devils punchbowl here, on Sunday one of my friends hiked in with his daughter and were camping on one side when lightning started another fire on the opposite rim. Suddenly the name seemed on target.

The last day of our drive home from Wyoming we left Winnemucca, NV and drove to the coast here. Pretty solid smoke from The black rock desert Between Winnemucca and Lakeview until just before the coast

Just after you leave Wyoming and head in to Salt Lake is a gorgeous place, where I happen to love the name "echo canyon" and the historical sign boards are full of attacks by the enemy (the U.S. Military). We were coming home with a dead air conditioner so stopped often to get water and walk in the air.
