rebeccad , I admire your determination to be outside in this weather. It's now 90 with a heat index of 93, not a good way to end the month of May. I’m not sure it’s determination, or all that laudable. I’m desperate. If I can’t keep wearing myself out physically, I will go nuts. I noticed late this afternoon that our heat index (“feels like”) was 95 while it was 97 actual temperature. I count it a blessing that I live somewhere that, if the temps are too high, at least has low humidity.

Today I did a good bike ride before it got too hot. Now I’m making jam—almost done, though it has heated up the kitchen a fair bit. Boysenberries—there’s a nice wall of them in my garden.

It was a humid 84º when I rode this morning. Too muggy to walk, so the additional breeze created by my speed felt good.

Good morning.
Turning in the last of the kid’s online homework and last paper work packet today. Then Thursday she has a “drive through kindergarten graduation” and it is summer.
Still no idea what first grade will end up looking like.
Have a good weekend, I need to deal with chores today instead of letting them go another day, but then a good weekend would be a lot more likely.

A few moments ago I enjoyed listening to the initial pattering of rain on the house, then the gradual and more aggressive attack by what I think was hail, along with the darkening of the skies, and the comfort that a rain/hail storm brings, knowing that the thirsty plants will be treated to a liquid feast. Some of the ostrich ferns are already 3 feet tall though, and there are interesting violet flowers in the garden that bear investigation. In an exciting discovery, my lilac irises which for some strange reason ceased blooming several years ago are now in bud.
The sound of a heavy rain is always welcome, as are the fresh fragrances it brings. It's my favorite relaxation activity.

Good morning, on this fine June 1st! My gym reopened, so I can continue my workout in the AC now. First trip there, there were only 4 people in the place the entire 2 hours I was there. We'll see how today goes. M returns to the animal shelter today for her first volunteer duty since mid March. Life is slowly opening back up here in Fl. The libraries are reopening some, so there's always that. Banks have reopened as well.

Unfortunately, if the windows are closed I usually can't hear it very well anymore, unless there's lots of thunder. I've lost hearing in both ears so it has to be LOUD! A spring storm woke me up one night not too long ago, and it was great.

Good morning! Shaping up to be another hot day, but I got my 4-mile walk (with a few bits of jogging) done before it got bad. I might even get used to going out before breakfast, though I much prefer winter when I can go just before time to fix dinner and still have nice light and cool temps.

sigh... Just got the email. Not selected for The Wave lottery in Kanab, UT again. I know I can hang out in the lobby and hope to get one of the walkins, but I am not a fan of driving that far just for a chance. I had a trip planned for the entire southern UT area and wanted to make The Wave the centerpiece. I can still do the other things. I might.
Or head to Oregon, taking the grandkids with us (since the Disneyland trip with the g-kids got Covidized)
Oh well. Perusing the local map I found some more off-trail lakes and remote sections of creeks that look fishable. Bushwacking for trout is always a good way to spend a few days.

The first story I saw this morning when I opened the news was a good news story. I read it, smiled and closed the news. Decided, “why press my luck and make myself feel worse?”
The house is dark and silent, and filled with birds chattering outside. One little hummingbird is flitting just outside my window and some long tailed black and white bird keeps diving off a branch, to hover just above the lawn. Catching flies perhaps?

There has been murder at my home The black hornet/wasp critters that dared to sting my husband a couple times for weedeating around our pump house, inspired him to buy hornet spray and knock it down. It was a danger to the kids and the neighbor dogs, but the empty shell is fascinating Good morning

WD-40 works just as well, and can be useful for other things around the house. For future reference.
