Thanks for sharing that--new or old it's nice to get an influx of ideas. Of course, I was aware of most of those things, but some others I hadn't thought about (and others I've tried and didn't care for). I'll just add my own notes here:
--The freeze-dried broccoli is great, and can be added to any add-boiling-water entree. It rehydrates nicely, as do all freeze-dried veggies. --I tried the beets. Now, I *like* beets. But these? Not so much. --Inner peas: not wild about them, but would consider as a crunchy addition to a tuna "casserole". I haven't tried the Inner Bean yet. --They didn't mention the TJ's Simply Nutty bars, but those are a great combo of basically nuts, a bit of a nougat or something to hold them together, and some chocolate on one side for sweetness. Actual food, not processed energy bar (I am pretty sure they are a rip=off of Kind bars, at half the price).
I've never used coconut oil in my cooking, but it's good to know TJs has the packets--I haven't seen those, and will have to look more closely.

Great list. The Trader Joe's item I bring on almost every trip is the dark chocolate covered almonds (164 calories/oz). They conveniently come in 2.5 oz packages. The other thing I loved on a long trip last summer was the triple ginger cookie thins (130 calories/oz) spread with peanut butter. A sleeve of the cookies is very compact and fits well in a bear canister.

Thanks, that's definitely a 5 star blog and while I don't shop at TJ's, I do carry some similar foods...

Great article, thanks for the link. I've never been to Trader Joe's, but there's one in Austin now, maybe I'll check it out one of these days.

Great site and great list. I've already gotten some ideas on creating a trail mix using some of the listed items.
Thanks for the link.

The coconut oil packets are well worth it. I used the coconut oil packets on my last hike, last week. It was cold enough out that the oil was solid. So easy to just plop it in the meal. Added calories and some flavor. Thanks for the heads up on the packets.

Great list. I have to agree about the Beets. I love beets but I tried them too and they were awful. Thanks for your hard work in putting this together.

This thread means a little more to me now that we have a Trader Joe's coming to my area in the near future.

I use the chicken broth packets at home. They used to also have vegetable and turkey. The turkey had a lot of flavor and I was sad to see them gone from the shelves, but happy they kept the chicken.
Whatever happened to soy nut butter? TJ's was my favorite. Is it because there are not many non GMO soybeans out there?
The baked cheddar chips are fantastic. As for Inner Peas...I get the CalBee brand as I prefer the flavors...Caesar and Wasabi.

The only reason I've gone into Trader Joe's thus far has been to get some two buck chuck for Jen and some dark chocolate covered coffee beans for me.
I now have a grocery list for our up and coming trip. Thank you!

I rarely go to Trader Joe's because it's out of my way, but we made a special trip last week just for the tea tree oil shampoo and soap. We also threw some cookie butter in the cart. 😀 daveb We have a Sprouts closer to home and they sell the chocolate covered espresso beans in bulk. My son and I love them!
