I was thinking about making a trip there soon but heard the fire hit it pretty hard. Wondering if it's worth the drive and, if so, where's the best place to head in. Preferably on the coastal side if it's still there. Thank You

I've been in the Silver Peak Wilderness several times the last few months. This is a long drive from NoCal, but scenic. There is currently access to Lime Kiln State Park & Plaskett Ck campground from the Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd. So the excellent Cone Peak Loop is open for those willing to make the drive. Probably a lot less crowded than usual. Check CalTrans and Big Sur Kate for current road conditions.

Thanks All. Looks pretty grim. I've got the fever and some new boots. Lets Rock! All I need now is a good place to go. Hoping for lots of trees. Coastal or mountain. Fires allowed. Not too gnarly. still recovering from knee surgery.
