Hello fellow travellers, me and my partner are going travelling for 6 months in March, were heading out to singapoore, Malaysia, Bali, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. We really dont know whether to bring our tent and camping gear, we would like to as it would save money. Does anyone know which of these destinations would be best for camping or if any have lots of available campsites? I have tried researching about camping in each place etc but i guess its just you do what you thinks best. Thanks

Hi Abi. I have personal experience only with New Zealand, and that 20 years ago. At least then, camping was a good option, and was what we did. There are lots of "motor camps" where the fees were reasonable, and most had some sort of kitchen facility, though we also had our backpacking stove along, since when we weren't in the motor camps, we were "tramping," i.e., backpacking, often with huts, some without.
I haven't been to Australia, but know people who have, and who have done a lot of camping there, in the last 10 years. The other places I have no info.

I know a lot of people rent camper-vans in New Zealand, which can kill two birds with one stone. Depending on your taste, Fiji does not need to be terribly expensive. Most people speak English, so it's not difficult to go off on your own.

I would also suggest hiring a campervan both in NZ and Australia, keeping in mind that Australia is the same size as CONUS. I would also take note of Ben's advice re Singapore/Malaysia/Bali. I would not do Fiji inside a small nylon tent either.
