Here is the agenda for our semi-annual North Woods trip. We will leave South Central Indiana this Wednesday morning and drive up to Wausau, WI to pick up my little sister. Thursday we head up to the Nicolet NF and will hike in to our favorite campsite at Fanny Lake. We will spend 4 nights there, exploring the entire Jones Spring trail system and possibly hiking back to the car and doing a day hike to Ed’s Lake. Decadent meals and relaxing will also be on the agenda. My sister has been trying to get us to check out the Eau Claire Dells for years so we are going to car camp for a night there next Monday and do some exploring. Tuesday night we will regroup and repack in Wasau and head up to the Chequamegon NF and check out the Chippewa Lobe Interpretive Loop, staying at the designated site mentioned in Eric’s book for 2 nights and exploring the area. No trip up North for us is complete without a visit to the Trap Hills so we will head northwest and spend a night up at the Hack Site. Then we will clean up in Bergland and finish the trip catching the Saturday afternoon/night sets at the Porcupine Mountains Music Festival. Work has been even more intense than usual so a low impact trip in peaceful country is exactly what I need. Needless to say, I’m stoked. Here is the view from our favorite site on Fanny Lake:
