I spent Christmas/New Years in Baja, Mexico - 4 nights at an island camp where we spent the days kayaking, snorkeling and relaxing. (I read 4 books in a week!) www.campfiresandconcierges.com/baja-kayak-camp/This was my 2nd trip to Mexico this year (went to Mexico City in September) and I just want to keep returning and learning more of the culture and language. (My grandmother was from Mexico, but died very young, so not much culture was passed down) Anyway, this trip really has me thinking about heading down to Baja next winter during my "career break" - my money will go a lot farther and I can have tacos & cerveza every day! Has anyone driven to Baja from the states, or done any hiking near La Paz and/or San Luis del Cabo?

Nice! I need to get to Baja, preferably with a kayak My husband has driven much of the way down, but that was 35 years ago or more, so maybe not helpful :-D

Drove a van down to Ensenada from San Diego, but that was 18 years ago. No hiking except for on the hill behind the children's home where we were working.
