I am really encouraged by all the recent people joining and coming here to the Trailhead Register to "sign in". I have tried to welcome each but probably missed a few. So if I did miss you Welcome!!!
I also want to encourage each of you to post your questions. There is a lot of good advice along with some maybe not so good, but you can figure it out. So post questions and feel free to offer up your own experiences and knowledge. Go to the various forums and see what is there.
I would also like to ask you to please be patient with some of us old timers here. I have been a member of "here" since 2001. And there are some that have been here way longer than myself. (I am talking to you desertdweller!) Just like everywhere else in the world, some of us can get cranky sometimes. And sometimes we just misunderstand one another. But stick around and make some friends. Many of us have actually traveled long distances to visit and hike with one another. We are not just virtual friends but have become face to face friends. Heck, some of us even met people here online we later married. We have celebrated births and marriages, mourned deaths, and just about everything that happens in our lives.
I will leave you with the signature line from one of our late members here, JimmyC: "If you want to be loved, be lovable."

Good post Rumidude. As an older poster, I can be a bit rough around around the edges but am also intending to support the new comers and long time posters. Apologies if I've put anyone off, but I speak my mind. This is a great forum; stick around.

Yesterday I was just thinking along the same lines. I, too, am encouraged by the large number of new posters and would like again to welcome them our community. In spite of our many quirks, this is genuinely a great place to hang out. New blood is alway a good thing. So, anything we can do to help, just let us know and please contribute as well. We hardly know everything, although a few members may think may they do. And thanks to Rumi for posting this. It's more than appropriate.

It's been just over a year since I've joined. The quirks keep me coming back day after day.

I was not aware that JimmyC had passed. Can you provide a bit more info? Died of cancer during the period after Backpacker killed the forum and before bp2go resurrected it. We lost ChuckD during that same period.

Whoa...I specifically remember being challenged with the Pam vs Butter dilemma. Obviously this is not actually a dilemma as everyone knows that butter wins.
