My name is Travis and I am a nomad advocate. I care deeply about our National Parks and believe in the importance of volunteerism. That is why I am planning a nationwide trip on my motorcycle to visit our National Parks and Monuments to volunteer, hike, canoe, and bivouac camp. I can use all the suggestions, tips, and insights on backpacking as I can get as I go into this adventure. I look forward to meeting you all and learning from your wealth of experience! For more on my trip check out my blog post nomadadvocate.wordpress.com/2017/01/16/volunteer-and-advocate-for-america-2018-national-road-trip/

Welcome Travis! Good on you for your volunteer activities. I too volunteer and was a volunteer backcountry ranger in ONP for two seasons. I also volunteer with WTA working on the trails in the state of Washington. If you get out to ONP, give me a shout and if I can I would love to meet you. I live on the Olympic Peninsula and can walk to ONP. Rumi

Advice: please wear a helmet. It's a wonderful, but dangerous world out there. Goodluck on your ventures.

Howdy!
The bivouac camping part may be a bit tricky in national parks. In many of these, you can only camp in designated areas, and many require reservations. Fortunately, many national parks are bordered by natural forests, which are less restrictive and often allow primitive camping.
