My names Tom, I live in eastern Nebraska, which is a lot of flat and a lot of empty. My family and I spent a lot of time in the outdoors until about two years ago when life changed. We're getting back out and expanding our outdoor experiences now. I grew up backpacking and living in the backcountry, my wife and kids haven't done much but are enjoying it so far. We have a family vacation planned for later this year and we plan to go out for about a week and a half so I joined the forums to expand my knowledge base and hopefully improve their experience. I'm looking forward to chatting with you all.

Welcome Tom!
I live on the Olympic Peninsula and do a lot of my hiking and backpacking in ONP. If you ever get out to western Washington, give me a shout for any information I can toss your way. Meantime I hope you can get some good information for whatever your needs are with backpacking.

Welcome, Tom, that's great you're getting out there with your family, hope we can be of assistance to you as you need it. Note that there is a hiking with children forum, where you can find some good information on hiking with kids, and pose any questions you might have.

Welcome to the group, vicious. I'm in central Texas and we have a lot of flat empty out here as well. You mentioned getting outdoors with your family. How old are the kids? If they're younger the "Hiking with Kids" forum may be right up your alley.

The good think about Nebraska, is that it's about a day's drive from Colorado and Wyoming. Howdy!

Hello...from the west coast. I must say, you are the first vicious person I've met from Nebraska besides a dog we used to call Smiley.

Vicioustom is a nickname that got stuck to me years ago, i don't know that it was ever an accurate description of me, but it stuck so I just went with it. I appreciate how friendly you've all been, and thank for the heads up on the childrens forum.
