Okay, so I couldn't find the Oskar Blues Ten Fidy, but I did find their Old Chub scotch ale and that would be worth carting out a few miles. Very nice! Not much of an IPA girl, unless its free and someone else carried it in. ;-) Normally, if I bring beer, it's going to be for a day hike or an overnight. Typically, I take whisky or Baileys, or both. better weight justification as for the same weight of one beer, I can have several days enjoyment instead of just one.

We need a beer thread, to discuss all of the various local and micro brews we enjoy from our different parts of the country. We've had these in the past but I can't find them in the current incarnation of this forum. Also had threads about scotch & bourbon. Feel free to start one - with all the microbreweries popping up I'm sure it will be new material.

My current standard is whatever is on sale at Total Beverage. Santa Fe Brewing, Full Sail, and Wasatch often have selections that are one or two dollars cheaper than most of the others. I don't discriminate. I enjoy Porter, IPA, Saison.... I'm not particularly fond of pilsner.
I also generally prefer Scotch while backpacking.
