Howdy all! Happy New Year, and all that! Winter has been a bit messy so far this year. Half a foot of snow, then a couple inches inches of rain, then a deep freeze; (rinse and repeat a half dozen times), makes for some treacherous pathways! (But I ain't complaining, too much.) It's puuuurty here! And finally got some snow that wasn't immediately followed by rain! From a quick flight with the drone, this morning. My, oh my! I love it here at Butedale! With this snow, there's now enough of the white stuff on the ground in the woods, that I can finally drag the canoe the rest of the way to the lake! Woo-hooo!!! It's only been stuck halfway to the lake for 3 years! lol! (Ancient super heavy 150+ pound fiberglass canoe, and a 30 to 45 degree incline to the lake, if you're wondering.) Got it halfway there with a block and tackle last time there was snow on the ground in the woods, all those 3 years past. (And have been hoping for enough snow to get it the rest of the way, since.) Anyhoo, it's been horridly quiet this winter, for boat traffic. Haven't seen another human for almost a month, and it's been a couple months since anyone has stayed at the docks overnight. (But I ain't complaining, too much!) The scenery is spectacular, especially with the snow on everything; and I got my crazy dog for company, and satellite internet to keep the cabin fever at bay! Righty then, just dropped in for a New Year's hello, (Hello!) and I'll chat at ya's later! Cheers!

PS: Where do you host your photos? I'd love to share that second one! I host them on Flickr. When I post, I usually remove all the Flickr links from the share, since the unedited photo-links have a tendency to turn the entire post into a link to Flickr. I think this is the link to my Flickr page. www.flickr.com/photos/24558271@N05/Let me know if it doesn't work, and I'll try again. Cheers!

BTW Cory, you are on my list. I have a general list of things I wanna do and spending an extended bit of time, maybe a month or two, with you in Butedale working on a project or two is on that list. I may never get to do it, but I really hope to. No promises, just a big desire. So if one day you get a message from me ... well don't be surprised.

Rumi Here's hopin' that ya manage to wander out here some day! And TDale too! And BlueBear as well! The logistics would be nigh-on impossible; but wouldn't it be cool to have a bunch of ya's out here at the same time!? The Great Butedale Gathering!!! Cheers y'all!

Breathtaking, especially the first photo. I love the symmetry of the trees and their branches.
Must tell you that you're inspiring my future dreams of getting away from a metropolitan area. I can't imagine anything more peaceful than spending a season in an area like yours. The solitude would be wonderful.
Again thanks for sharing these photos.

A drone is a great thing for you to have. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the whales & orcas from the drone.

Happy New Year, Cory! Gorgeous photos! Thanks! And thanks again, all! A drone is a great thing for you to have. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the whales & orcas from the drone. Definitely something I want to do! Next time there are whales in the harbor, and good flying weather, the drone will be up! Cheers!
