I hesitate to declare victory, but I finally feel like I am in control rather than just floundering around. The biggest difference now is the use of an app named LoseIt. I log all my food into it and it keeps track of everything for me. I no longer guess about what I am consuming because the app tracks it. Because it is so easy to log stuff, I literally have not missed logging one item of food. I know everything I have eaten. Rumi Rumi, I think that just the act of logging everything I eat would make me eat less . Not only would have have to confess to it all (and see the totals), but no matter how easy, it’s got to be a bit of a pain in the neck to do. How do you enter “a handful of mixed nuts” or guess at the amount of peanut butter on that cracker?

I use my phone to do most of the logging. I can scan the bar code and it knows what it is. I just have to fill in the amount. I have used a kitchen scale for a long time to measure amounts so it is there. An ounce of walnuts is 200 calories, 19gm of fat, 3gm of carbs, and 5gm of protein. Rumi

RumiDude Scan the barcode? Very little of my food comes with one of those, though the separate ingredients do.

Scan the barcode? Very little of my food comes with one of those, though the separate ingredients do. Well, the nuts I get from Costco come in a container that has a bar code on it. Regarless of whether the food has a barcode, I can just type in "spinach", and I have lots of options to choose from. Same with "banana" or anything else. I click on the one that comes the closest and the app open up a dialog box which allows me to choose the measurement and the amount. It's really pretty simple. The other day I typed in the name of a recipe and it had it in it's database. It has many restaurant items as well. Here is the summary of yesterday for me.

Here is the recipe item I had found on the internet which the app amazingly had in it's database.

I'm consuming about 2000 cal a day, and 150 g of carbs. Don't know how you can get by on 925. I'm burning 900 calories just during my training every day.

Don't know how you can get by on 925. I'm burning 900 calories just during my training every day. Yea, but you will notice I actually ate 1533 calories that day and burned 608 calories in exercise, thus 925 Net calories. Some days I eat about 2000 calories and have about the same 600 calories in exercise. I aim between 1500 and 2000 calories consumed each day. The exercise is generally about 500 to 650 calories. The Net calories varies and I generally don't focus too much on that. I think I have a good balance between protein and fat. I try to limit saturated fat. I try to limit carbs to 50 - 100 grams per day. I especially try to limit added sugars, but obviously get naturally occurring sugar in my milk and yogurt. I also eat bananas and frozen blueberries which have sugars. Each day is different and some days there are lots of veggies, which though mostly carbs have few calories. In general, my system can't handle too high a percentage of fat. It is just too hard on my liver. On thing I have done is to limit what times I eat. I often don't eat breakfast until mid-morning at the earliest. And then I don't eat anything after dinner until breakfast the next day. I drink coffee, tea, and water mostly/ I have milk with my protein powder drink. (There is lots of sugar in milk carbs.) Anyway, I am looking forward to my A1c and other numbers the next blood draw, which should be in June. My A1c has hoovered at 5.7 to 5.8 for a couple years, without much success in lowering it. I have relatively low HDL. Since losing a bunch of belly fat, about 15 lbs, I have not had any problem with heartburn/acid reflux. That is a HUGE plus for me. Acid reflux has been linked as a cause of COPD later in life because the breathing in the acidic air and such into the lungs is suspected to cause pulmanary fibrosis. My father had bad acid reflux/GERD and ended up suffering terribly from pulmanary fibrosis. Rumi

Nope. I saw the 925 and thought that was all you had consumed. Didn't read deeper.

I have lost 14.2 pounds since 01/10/2019. My BP this morning was 117/74 with a resting HR of 51. I wish I could have a blood test right now to see where I am at with all those values.
Again, I feel great and have lots of energy. No more of those weird feelings of sudden weakness like I haven't eaten enough.

159.8 pounds when I stepped on the scale today. Getting down near to where I wanna be.
My BP is running about 115/70 right now, which is good.

BTW, about the acid reflux—I noticed that when I stopped drinking milk, a lot of that went away. I dropped milk because the MD thought I might be lactose intolerant based on various gripes about digestive issues, but I hadn’t associated that one with it. I guess if you aren’t digesting, none of it works right. I’ve gone back to using milk on my oatmeal and in my coffee (just because the substitutes are kind of expensive and it’s a pain to keep 2 kinds of milk around when traveling). But I’m not drinking it by the glass, and that seems to be good enough. Not quite anything to do with diabetes, but your comment about it made me think about that.

I dropped 5 pounds in the Canyon. Probably get it back FedEx soon.
ER blood testing showed my A1c back to 6.2, down from 6.8 last time at my Dr's office. Will work on it to get it even lower. Looking for something in the 5.9-5.8 range.
