What are some of the best gag ( but not so gag gifts) that you have got your fellow backpackers ? Last year I picked Coghlan's trowel (2.5 bucks only)...Other was funny tenacious tape roll. What else do you think makes an awesome gag gift?

Well, yes, the toilet-oriented always makes a good backpacker gift. Also the utterly useless gizmo, such as I perceive some of the spoon-multitool combos to be (but probably too pricey for that).
A really tacky necktie for summit wear.

10 ft of Amsteel line. Cheap for the gift, and the recipient will spend $50 for more of the stuff.
Mini ground hog tent stake. 1 runs $2.50, and most people need one more tent stake.
Figure 9 rope tightener. link another item most people don't realize they need more of.
A small roll of colored duct tape, available at places like Staples and wallyworld. Any color. Under $5 for some rolls.

I received a small roll of camo toilet paper...sister in law thought it would be great on the trail.
Wife bought me a knife-fork-spoon sort of leatherman/gerber super tool thing that ONLY weighed 6 ounces. She laughed a bit.

I loved rope tightener and necktie !! But so far the favorite is Dehydrated water. I had heard about something like this but did not know if this was actually sold.

Skull cap, sunglasses, red skivvies, furry boots, and a fake winter background to photograph it all.

I can hook you up with a great wholesale supplier. Great deal if you can pick it up local, but shipping rates are rough.
Maybe a thrift store pack full of bricks? For "training."

You can get Dirty Girl gaiters in some pretty outrageous patterns. And they work! The gaiters, that is.
