I'm trying to dial in a few trips hopefully in 2017. Still have a testy knee thing happening but I'm going to spend some time rehabbing. Wondering if anyone has any input on whether or not Big Sur, (Ventana Wilderness), is worth the trip in February or March. I would think there would be some washouts here and there which, hopefully, I can get a report on beforehand. Otherwise, is it do-able? Or would it be wise to wait until spring? Thanks

The Ventana Wilderness mostly burned last summer. Check to see which trails, if any, will be open.

That's such a bummer Whistlepunk. I was there in late Spring and everything was amazing. I'll shoot them a call and see what's open. Plan B might be Snow Mountain. Any input?

Depending on how the post-fire recovery is going, I could see March being good for that area. This is shaping up to be a wet winter, which could mean flowers as well as slides and wash-outs.
