I like mine with whisky best. If it is store bought, I thin it out greatly with some cream or whole milk.

I enjoy the "Silk Nog" and I'm reminded that I need to purchase more before it disappears off the shelves for another year.

Grocery store egg nog is pretty bad. Smells like latex house paint, Funny you should say that. It has long been said in my family that the stuff at the store looks and probably tastes like Sears latex paint (not sure why my brother specified Sear paint. Possibly other brands taste better?). Home-made stuff, though--I've had some that was pretty good.

It only looks like snot but it's not. Seriously, I love egg nog. I even add a little to my coffee around the holidays.

I've never liked it until one of our vendors brought some of her "homemade" eggnog to our work. I'm not sure what she does that others that I've tried don't but it's good. ...also just stout enough to warm your breath. I never ask what's in it, I'm just happy to have it. lol.

Mother used to make boiled custard every winter. Love that, too.
We've found a variation on "Grandpa's Egg Nog" that we really like. Can't remember the specifics, but it's something like this:
6 eggs, whites and yolks separated 1 cup sugar 1.5 cups half and half 1 quart vanilla ice cream 1 cup each of rum, brandy, and bourbon
Put the ice cream in a large pitcher so it can begin to soften. Beat the egg yolks with the half the sugar. Beat the egg whites and remaining sugar until stiff, then add to the yolks. (heheheh) Add the half and half, rum, brandy, and bourbon and mix. Pour over the ice cream and mix. Put it in the refrigerator and leave it for five days. Stir and enjoy. Makes about 1 gallon.
There's some chemical black magic that occurs by waiting the five days. It won't hurt to try it earlier, but it won't be smooth. After the fifth day, it's VERY smooth.

Good stuff. But, I'd go half and half with milk.

Hood golden egg nog is my favorite drink ever, I wish it was around all winter instead of disappearing after Christmas.

I've only tried it a couple of times, but I'd rather go through the effort to make creme brulee and spike it with something.

Do I like eggnog? The fact that I don't weigh 600 lbs with arteries completely blocked with egg, sugar, and nutmeg is a testament to my super-human willpower.

Well, according to the Washington Post, you should have 4 glasses of champagne instead of one mug of egg nog. They're a little sketchy on why, although they mention that the calories (380) are equal and "...even one or two flutes of those tiny bubbles makes a gathering feel like a real celebration." No mention of coffee.

Egg Nog, *sigh* wonderful stuff but I cannot drink it. To drink egg nog is to run a lot of extra laps around the track and my wife will count the laps to make sure I don't cheat.
There is this danish sitting in a bag, on the counter, with a post-it with the number 10 written on it. My wife got the danish from work, one of those xmas party leftovers. Arggggggghhhhhh.

rebeccad Yea, I last had a doughnut in Sept. so it might just well be worth it. Oh and the rules apply to her too and she had a danish at work. I think she is trying to get me to call it even with the temptation. I'm not letting her off the hook, tomorrow after Crossfit, she will ride with me to the gym and run her 10 laps.
