What is your opinion on egg nog? Out South African au pair asked us to get her some as she had never tasted it. I personally can't stand the stuff but agreed to buy it in the spirit of cultural exchange. So, thoughts, comments or opinions?

Where's the "Nectar of the Christmas gods" choice?
Best served with a bit of whiskey. I also use it in pancakes instead of milk.

You can serve it without adding liquor? Who knew?

I drink the non-alcoholic kind. And the egg nog ice cream from Braum's is incredible--a family favorite!

I like egg nog. Not sure what that Festive stuff is. I can drink it straight, or with additional flavorings.

Grocery store egg nog is pretty bad. Smells like latex house paint, but I can drink it as an odd treat. Do your au pair a favor and do NOT serve the grocery store version, but check out Rompope (Rome-PO-pay), aka, Mexican egg nog. This is easy to make and way better. Yes, it contains alcohol and is not for the kids on Christmas Eve!

Yum. With or without spirits. My uncle worked at a dairy many, many years ago and he and my aunt always had egg nog at Christmas. If I recall correctly, they actually sold it already spiked. We spent many a Christmas sitting around the table visiting over egg nog and cookies. Fond memories ...

Do your au pair a favor and do NOT serve the grocery store version, She liked the grocery store "nog". I don't know if she'll drink any more of it, but she did like it.

I like it, but one glass is about my limit. It leaves me bloated and feeling like there is chunk of lead in my stomach.
