Oh, so many comments that could be made on this thread. Why are they focusing on just pubic for STDs? What about men who shave their face? Wouldn't that open them up to stuff too? A lot of throat cancers are caused by HPV.

Something tells me this is a lifestyle correlation. Folks who shave down there are probably more likely to engage in multiple partner sex. So the two activities (pubic shaving and "prolific" sexual contact) are likely common parts of a certain lifestyle. And its the lifestyle that's the causative factor.

Read the article, it's as simple as shaving causing abrasion that creates a skin surface that is more apt to contract an STI. Skin is a protective surface, unless you have a cut...
