Hey guys how's it going?! This is my first time getting into forums so bare with me. I'm newer to hiking but have been an outdoorsman my whole life. Mainly done weekends "roughing it" with no gear out in the backwoods but recently (last year) started getting into hiking. First hike ever was the porcupine mountains in the U.P. and I fell in love. Just wanted to introduce myself and am looking forward to the advice and information you all can provide. Thanks,

Brussels sprouts- crockpot steamed with butter add balsamic vinegar delicious Broccoli- fried or steamed with Parmesan cheese or any cheese for the sake of cheese Beer- red ales by far Scotch- not for this guy Vegemite behind ears- if only it helped catch a snip too Kilts- never wore one. To each their own though. Bacon- thick, home grown, wrapped around venison backstraps smoked on the charcoal grill

Hey, it's the only skill I have. tigger will be along shortly to inform you of the PG13 nature of the forums. Benton's is great stuff, although since it's salted naturally instead of injected with nitrites/nitrates, it's quite salty. Y'all look like a nice trio. Glad to have ya aboard. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. It ain't likely you'll ask dumber stuff than I did, even after I lurked for a few years before asking. This *might* be the one you want. Welcome aboard.

Thank you!
Salty is never a bad thing IMO. better than being injected. Raise my own beef so I know what I'm eating.
I'm digging through the forums now trying to find the info I want and avoiding any newbie mistakes that'll piss anyone off but that's probably inevitable
Thanks again.

Hey, welcome here from the Olympic Peninsula. In another lifetime it seems, I lived in the Detroit area from 1979 to about 1984, with time off for good behavior.

Steamed sprouts are bitter. Try searing them in some bacon grease. Howdy from another former Michigander.

Being from Michigan, have you hiked the manistee river trail loop? I'm probably gonna hit that trail this spring or wait till fall. I'm gonna have to give that a try with the sprouts!
