It looks like I may have an opportunity for an artist residency on the West side of the Snowy Range (Wyoming) this summer. If I did it, I would probably drive there and take the opportunity for a major trip in my beloved Gore range afterward (when I'd be well acclimatized to the altitude.)
But does anyone have any suggested destinations for quick trips (one- or two-nighters, or day hikes) in the Snowy Range? Maybe some seldom visited lake off trail or something? I would imagine that a large percentage of the hiker traffic there is on the Medicine Bow peak trail?

CW,
I've got some stuff to do here shortly so will expand later but off the top of my head Telephone Lakes was a GREAT overnight. Of course Medicine Bow peak is about an hour dayhike. Highest Mountain in all of Southern wyoming is awesome, other great alpine stuff there. Like the Sangres fair amount of lakes.
Saratoga can be fun. Moose in Ryan Park are getting YUGE. I'll come back, have a great afternoon.

Telephone Lakes was a GREAT overnight. It's 400yds off the road and they don't let you park there any more..... It's an EXTREMELY small area. I can MTB every trail there in one day. For an overnighter /loop, there is only one option. Gap Lks to Sheep Lk to Brooklyn Lk and back. 2 days Max if you're really dragging.

I did some hiking in the Savage Run Wilderness, in Medicine Bow NF and along French Creek. I enjoyed both of those areas.
You can also visit the Colorado State Forest, to the south, which is also very nice. I x-c skiied to a yurt there.
This was about 25 years ago (I lived in Fort Collins at the time), so I have no idea what those areas are like now.

Looks like that loop could also possibly include an off-trail traverse of Brown's Peak? Looks very doable from the map.
