Michigan dweller here. Lower Peninsula. Looking to loose weight again. I have a decades old TNF Super Kazoo 20* Bag. For shoulder season use. Im considering replacing I also have 0* TNF for cold (Im old). And 40* Zpacks Quilt (w/ziper). Im considering a Brooks range 20 Elephant , at 59" its open top similar to the Quilt so will be used with a puffy and Zpacks hood. Any opinions on pros cons of an elephant foot bag?

My Golite Featherlite +40 is a similar design - no hood, no zipper (but pretty close to full length). It has worked great for me. I use mine in combo with my down jacket in temps down to 0F.
That said, I upgraded to an enlightened equipment revelation quilt. It has risen to the top of my list for sleeping. I ordered an extra wide 0 degree. I can use it in combo with my Featherlite without compressing the insulation for extreme temps, by itself extremely comfortably down to 0, and it works great for warm evenings in summer in my hammock.

I ordered one. 60% off. I will field test Dec 3. I sleep in my base layer with down booties, hood gloves. And now with puffie on top. Temp expected mid twenties

Never tried an elephant foot bag, my two concerns would be 1) getting a gap between the top end of the bag and the bottom end of my puffy, letting cold air in, and/or 2) I generally sleep without wearing my puffy and like having it as backup insulation in case it gets really cold, but if my puffy is part of my sleep system then I feel I'd be leaving no margin for error with temps, risking a cold night with no backup.
But that's all in my head, let us know how it works out for you in actual practice.
EDIT: the pro to an elephant foot bag is the weight savings.

let us know how it works out for you in actual practice. I've been using my system that is almost identical and includes my Down jacket for over five years now. It works just fine for me and my bag is rated to 40F. I do recall one night where I shoved my feet into my backpack to add just a bit more warmth. I've got other base/mid layers that I can shove on and if it gets real cold, I actually don't wear my down jacket. I lay it on top instead as I get more down insulation that way.
