As familiar as I am with the sierra Tahoe area I can't say I've ever backpacked there. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good trail near water. I was told a good place to head out is fallen leaf lake but That's kind of vague. One thing is, I'm testing a recently repaired knee so I don't want to get too crazy but all in all it feels pretty good. Probably be just an overnighter. Maybe 2 if the weather isn't treacherous. Thanks All and Happy Thanksgiving.

Hmm. Keep an eye on the weather. It's supposed to start snowing in the Sierra this weekend, so you may want to be looking at lower-elevation trails, unless the front moves on and things thaw again by this time next week. I'm not real up on trails in that neck of the woods, so won't try to offer suggestions, though a bit south the trail up the Walker River from Highway 20 (out of Leavitt Meadows) might provide a scenic hike without getting into the severe conditions.

Winter weather advisory above 7k in the Sierra. Would need to be ready for snow. The major road passes are closed.
Something lower like out of O'Shaunnessey?

If you do not want snow then tahoe may be out for the season.
Ishi Wilderness is 2.5-3 hours north of you. Low elevation, below snow line. You can do an easy overnight out and back along Deer or Mill Creek trails.
