I've had a Therm-a-Rest LuxuryLite on my "wish list" at Amazon for ages.
They reduced the price by $60, so I pulled the trigger. (I got an old back...)

Interesting. I've never heard of a backpacking cot. Only two pounds is pretty good. But, I guess I just don't see how it would be more comfortable than a good thermarest and bag while sleeping on the ground. But, I guess I'd have to try it to see. I have an old back, too.

Better sleeping is why I went to a hammock. More comfortable than my bed at home.

At 2 lbs for the "regular" and almost 3 lbs for the "large", it's not really all that practical for backpacking, but I was thinking about more varied use for car camping and local "state park" camping, where I don't have to lug the extra weight all that far. I doubt I would actually use it for backpacking if the trip was more than just a short haul - I tend to go pretty spartan when I'm out alone. Like everything else, these things require a lot of thought about the relative trade off in terms of weight-on-the-back walking vs. comfort at night. I don't really think, at its weight, this deserves much thought at all. In most every case, the weight of this thing is just insane, even though it's relatively light as far as "cots" go. I also like being off the floor when I visit relatives who have animals, though the 4" clearance of this thing won't help much, so I still come off looking like an idiot, I guess. Better sleeping is why I went to a hammock. More comfortable than my bed at home. Yeah, you are the guy who pretty much sold me on that. I have a WBBB as well, but, as you might suspect, "real trees" are scarce in these parts. All we got is these silly bushes and stuff. I once worked at a startup with a few guys from the East, and they used to tease us locals about our live oaks and such. "You call these things trees?" they'd laugh. "These are not trees. You wanna see some trees, I'll show you some pictures of trees where I came from!"

I had a go at an early version of the Luxury Light. A bit tricky to put together but felt pretty good to lie on top of it. This was at home , the cot belonged to a friend.
As for your "old back" did you not get a new one at birth ?

I was always tempted by the LuxuryLite cot, but never quite enough to commit. Let us know how you like using it.

I have some buddies that sleep on these babies car camping. Makes me really envious.
