Really going off here. What a treat..
For those of you that don't live in this region, thunderstorms are extremely rare here. I find them exciting.

Years ago I was in downtown LA during a good thunderstorm. My friend and I just kept walking down the street, like we would in any thunderstorm. As all the people huddled under the storefronts looked on in disbelief, we wondered "What the hell is wrong with these people?"
That was a good day. You see, I grew up in Upstate NY. So after moving to LA, I sprinted for cover every time a large truck rumbled by. And my co-workers would laugh and laugh. Now when they laughed, I could remind them of the big scary thunderstorm that killed thousands upon thousands of helpless pedestrians.

I could remind them of the big scary thunderstorm that killed thousands upon thousands of helpless pedestrians. Now that if just funny and made me laugh out loud. Really. SoCalis have no experience with rain or thunderstorms. When we had a minor event a couple of years ago, I went to fill up my car with gasoline. The attendant was totally freaked out. Yesterday I watched my neighbor's kid (maybe 6 years old) totally freaking out and wailing trying to get to their car which was about 10' from the garage. They never made it. How people can take a shower every day but have a fear of rain just makes me wonder.
