As per request by the admin, Hello! My name is Cody. I guess I would still consider myself a newbie to backpacking because i've only been on a few trips. I am a hammock camper looking to meet fellow backpackers, find new places to explore, learn some things that I may not know and get some trail advice. Looking forward to chatting!

Welcome to our little crazy farm. What part of the nation do you live in? That will help us help you find close by hiking spots. We also need an opinion on the following: Kilts, bacon, beets, brussel sprouts, and single malt Scotch. Thanks.
I am a hammock camper myself, using a WarBonnet Black Bird, or WBBB among those who are more familiar with them. I have had it for about 6 years now, and wouldn't go back to ground unless there were no other options. For more hammock information, try hammock forums.net

Howdy Cody. What peaks have you bagged?

Most of the peaks I've summited were in the Austrian Alps. I lived there for a while. I've climbed Untersberg, Hochstaufen, Gaisberg, Hoher Goeld, and a few others over there. In the US, mostly the 6k footers in the Smokies and appalachian mountains. Mt. Mitchell, Mt. LeConte, Roan mountain...I think that's it...
I live in South Carolina! I am slowly working on my hammocking kit. I still have a grand trunk hammock but I have modified the suspension a little. I am using a hennessey Asym tarp, also custom suspension. Hopefully I will secure an underquilt sometime in the near future.

Hey there from Columbia in the Palmetto State! Welcome to the insanity. I'm a recent convert to hammock camping myself but on occasion still carry my Tarptent. What part of S.C. did you land in?

Welcome from the Weird Coast, er, California. I don't hammock, though I've tested one and it might be comfy. But I like sharing my tent with my spouse, and I like camping above treeline! (I'll be nice to you anyway). Look forward to hearing about your adventures.

I'm also in SC, and I hike around some of those same areas. Just last Saturday I was hiking near Mt Mitchell and saw my first snow for the year!
I'll be interested to hear about your hikes here in the Carolinas.

Bienvenido Cody!
I don't know Jerry but RetiredRedog is as good as people get. Zeke ain't much of a posterior orifice either, always good to have friends in warmer places sometimes and cooler others. As long as you aren't a fan of the Saturday Evening Convicts Leauge we'll get along well.
Alvitizen,
John

Welcome from the Big Sky Country. Always nice to see a new member. We seem to be getting a lot of new faces lately and that's great.
