I will not upgrade my PCs that are running Windows 7. I will upgrade the ones that are running 8.1. I don't think anything could suck worse than 8.1. Are you using Classic Shell with 8.1 to make your Win 8.1 work like it was Windows 7? That's what I do here. -Don- SSF, CA

I still think that paying $100 for a DVD installation disk is pennies on the dollar compared to the time consumed in downloading, installing, attempting to copy a backup etc. — all from a download speed that is far too slow to reasonably handle a 3 GB set of files.
I'll be buying the WIN 10 disk either on a new computer or from a software store — when I'm ready. There is simply no rush. And that is the best advice I have read repeatedly from various sources. The price of buying the WIN 10 OS Disk is of negligible expense compared to having to rebuild my customized setup — on either WIN 7 or WIN 10.
I think there are a lot of people out there that have lost touch with the reality of the slow speeds in rural Wyoming. They necessitate that some of us follow something other than the common fodder of WIN 10 advertisements put out for people with 20 times the download speed available to us.
There are better ways to do this than simply say, "yes, of course" every time Microsoft says "jump." Thanks everyone for the responses.

The startup repair options are the same as Windows 8.1 www.howtogeek.com/131916/how-to-use-the-advanced-startup-options-to-fix-your-windows-8-computer/

As I keep being reminded, there is no time limit to editing your post, and you also can delete it. That means, you can go back and edit the 1st one, and delete the 2nd so no one knows you goofed.

I think we're kind of on the honor system so far in that regard. But the topic might be worth a thread in itself. I wouldn't mind going back to between a half hour and an hour edit time — as it seems previous forum editions had it. I'd bet we could suggest that bp2go adjust the time limit.

I updated a few of my computers from Win 8.1 to Windows 10. So far, I have not found any issues. My biggest concern was if IE would still work with ActiveX and such as I need to view my cameras at my other homes. Never could use Firefox or anything other than IE for many of my internet cameras. Old IE works fine with Windows 10 with Active X and all (the new Win 10 Edge will not work with some of my internet cameras).
All my favorites and such stayed the same, but I use Xmarks. I notice no differences in how things were configured before and now with Windows 10.
And I have already used many other programs without any problem with Win 10.
I noticed Win 10 does boot up faster, but it's slower to shut down that Win8. Other than that, I notice no real differences, other than the looks and such.

Okay, now I found an issue on two computers (I own many). All the desktop computers I own use TWO monitors. With my newer computers, where they have a HDMI as well as VGA output, both monitors work fine with Windows 10.
However, on a couple of my older computers that have no HDMI port, I use a USB2VGA adapter so I can run one monitor from the computer's own VGA port and the other with the USB to VGA adapter.
With BOTH computers that use a USB adapter (and each have a different type)I cannot get the USB connected monitor to work. Not even with new USB drivers that are supposed to work with Windows ten.
I do hear a beep when the USB2VGA adapter is connected or removed. Otherwise, they do nothing.
So I am stuck with using one monitor on this computer as well as one other at another home. At least for now, until I figure out what the problem is. These drivers are supposed to be Windows ten compatible with the USB2VGA adapters, but that monitor stays blank and when I try do "detect" it (under "Display" in the control panel) it says "didn't detect another display".
Anybody here have any ideas to try for a possible fix?

Anybody here have any ideas to try for a possible fix? I would try uninstalling the drivers and letting it re-find the adapters again (in the device manager).
