So I just got the Loan peak 3.0,the green Neo Shell mid in the mail today. I dont run unless chased but I do hike and thats one of the reasons I bought this shoe. I also wear minimalist shoes and the large toe box and 0 drop made these shoes exactly what I needed for the winter.. I think.. Today is my 1st day wearing them and I noticed two things. The mid portion of the top of the shoe felt too tight to me as well as the heel cup. I relaced the shoe via the alternative method on Altras sight. It helped but I wasnt 100% comfortable. I then read some use the shoe with out the insole and I called Altra to verify this info. They agreed that some do this. I tried this as well and I found this took away the tight feeling away but now i could feel where the foot bed and shoe carcass met. I ended up putting some thin insoles in and they feel better but I still feel the heel is tight. Mind you the rest of the shoe fits good so I dont think its a size issue. maybe cause Iam use to a minimalist shoe?? Has anyone else tried these yet? www.altrarunning.com/men/lone-peak-3-neoshell-mid

Fit. Fit. Fit. If they don't fit, return them. Seems like your foot volume is more than what the shoe is designed for. No way would I swap out an insole for something thinner.
ETA: This shoe appears to have been out only 2 months. Not sure how many posters here would've already used it enough to give a proper review.

Agreed. I have had too many problems due to ill-fitting boots/shoes to not advise you to dump these if you can.
