It would also be fabulous to have more from the early trips -- the Grand Canyon and your CA trip. Fun times. Those were some fun trips. I think over the years I have set up a dozen backpacking 'tours' via internet and sites such as this. I've kept up with a few who came along, but I think most went on to other venues or possibly gave it up. Everybody who started at the trailhead came home...of that I am happy. A few were worse for wear. As you all know from Pickle Gulch it is a time consuming and not such a straight forward task to tie it all up in a bag. You don't know who will be with you until you count noses at the start of a trail. A base camp makes sense. I am sorry I didn't go on all the other excursions all y'all had and asked for others to tag along. I enjoyed the Harvard trip but not as much as the Conundrum Hot Springs one. There is something to be said for a nice hot pond (at 11,200') after a long wet trip. Quite an experience to be in a middle of a snow shower in a hot springs.

I'd rather do a 13er than a 14er that I've already visited. The possible exception is Belford, since I didn't have enough time to hit Oxford, too. Unless you are prepared mentally for it, Oxford is seemingly a very long haul after getting up the energy and drive to just walk "over there and back". Right around 13,000' on the way up a high peak, a monkey appears mentally on some hiker's back - whispering that you, " ... don't have to go up there today, you can always come back" Bigload, I understand the siren's call... It was a good trip along with Deborah -- 4 x 14r's in 3 days. Out in the horse corral behind a hermit prospector's cabin, I found a Mason jar full of something heavy and wrapped up in cotton sugar sack material (looks like). I have yet to open it. It makes a much better story with imaginations flying around, instead of finding out it is full of run of the mill gold nuggets. No more intrigue. I do have plans to hike back there with a metal detector tho - some day. Would be more than twice as much interest if I had twin jars.

I think we're going to need a bigger campsite. Should have kept that second site.

I bet one of them is still available, 4 or 6.
I was wrong. I guess we just spread out under the trees. Either that or buddy up in the tents.

I guess we just spread out under the trees. The one time I went, I recall little platforms for tents, which to me indicated that they had a max occupancy per site. Yes, no? And given the camp host from a couple of years ago, he might enforce it. I have a true one person pyramid tent - only room for one, but then, I probably won't make it anyway.

We may need to unload then move cars around the corner to that area close to the playground.

If I make it I'll have a rental car, so we can move that anywhere. On the other hand, if I make it I'll also try to rent a bigger car so I can bring more firewood. That little puddle jumper got me up to PG, but that was about all it could do.

I'm hip to the carpool. If I go, I'll fly in Thursday, spend the night at around 5kft (if I remember right Golden fits the bill), drive up Friday, then make my leisurely way back on Sunday after helping tear down everything, and fly out Monday. On Friday I could drive back to DIA and pick up some peeps. Not sure how well that would work on Sunday, however, as most folks will want to bug out on Sunday.
Still, it's all up in the air. Just throwing some ideas out into the mellifluous aether...

Don't worry about firewood. I'll pick that up and bring in a big load of it when I come in Friday night. If you want some earlier Friday y'all can bring a couple bundles as you wish but I'll bring the bulk of it.
Someone else bring coffee though. I totally missed the ball assuming we had that covered last year and pronouncing it "taken care of" on the forum. Live & learn! :-p

I promise, this year there will be ample coffee and a vessel in which to prepare.
