So I'd love to do the Weminuche but my wife and I really only have 2 nights so 40+ miles is way too much. We also need a dog friendly hike. The Lost Creek looks promising....
Does anybody have any suggestions for 2 night, 3 days hike in Colorado? My wife and I just moved to La Veta, CO so anything within a 3 or so hour drive from here would be great.
We also considered doing a 1 night 2 day up to Mt. Blanca since it's very close.

There are several good options in that area. In addition to several good options in the Sangres, you might want to look at Wheeler Geologic Area.

The Comanche-Venable loop? I know it's on my to-do list, and you're quite a bit closer to the trailhead.

Comanche-Venable is a great choice. I'm also a big fan of the Music Pass/Upper Sand Creek/Milwaukee Pass area. You could hike in to the upper sand creek basin, dayhike the next day to Milwaukee Pass and/or Marble Mountain (unbelievable views of S Colony Creek and Crestone Needle on the way), and then back to the car on day 3.

Oops--I missed the part about it needing to be dog friendly. I think that eliminates the upper sand creek/Milwaukee pass area, because it is national park land (part of the Great Sand Dunes complex). I'm not certain, but you'd sure want to check before heading there.

If you select the Comanche-Venable loop; I suggest that you hike it counter clockwise. That's the direction we went and I was glad to be hiking up some of the dicey areas rather than down.

The OP lives in La Veta, so Spanish Peaks would be a quick day trip that could be done any time the weather is favorable. If they have 3 days, I'd head to the Sangres.
