I just posted this on Facebook, but some of you may not be there or may not be FB friends of mine. Any rate, I'm trying to compile recipes for good SIMPLE Christmas cookies that I can share. Tested and perfected family recipes are preferred. If you have a good recipe that I can share with friends, please send it to me,or post it here. Also, if it originally belonged to a friend or loved one, please tell me so I can credit them. Thanks I'm advance for any help you can provide. I'm starting early so I can do some test baking and share these before the holidays.

If I'm in a good mood and have a lot of time, I make a lot of cookies at Christmas. The last few years I've cut back to five or six different types. I always have to go with at least one favorite of each person. Gingerbread is my favorite, but it's a pain in the ass to make, so I started making molasses cookies, which are the perfect substitution. I cut the recipe in half, but it's perfect if you need a lot for a cookie swap. This recipe may or may not be a family recipe, so I won't put a name on it, because I don't know how far back it goes, but here it is:
Molasses Cookies (Makes 10 dozen)
Cream together: 2 cups dark brown sugar 1 cup Shortening
Add: 1 cup molasses 1 cup of hot coffee
Add: 2 well- beaten eggs 2 tsp baking soda 2 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp ground ginger 1 tsp cloves
Stir in 1 cup raisins (optional) and approximately 8 cups of flour.
Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet and bake at 350 or 375 for 10-15 minutes.
